If you and your spouse/domestic partner have or adopt a child, you have 31 days from the date of the event to enroll the child (under age 26) or to make changes to your benefits as summarized in the chart below.

  • March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Find news and information about preconception, healthy pregnancies, prematurity and pregnancy and newborn complications. The site also includes extensive FAQs and lets you e-mail maternity-related questions to a health expert within 48 hours.
  • Text4baby is a free health-education text messaging service that educates and informs pregnant women and new moms with practical tips, recourses and alerts about pregnancy and child care. To sign up, text BABY to 511411 (text BEBE to receive Spanish texts). You’ll receive three messages per week until baby’s first birthday.
